About The Position

ADM is seeking a Lab Technician in Spokane, WA, to perform physical testing of production samples, calibrate lab instruments, record and interpret test results, and maintain laboratory cleanliness. This role involves managing samples, inputting data, ensuring adequate supplies, and comparing test results against standards to maintain product quality. The technician will also be responsible for sending Certificates of Analysis (COAs), notifying colleagues of out-of-specification products, performing monthly check samples, preparing and sending samples to external labs, verifying Critical Control Points (CCPs) in the mill, and conducting Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) inspections. The position requires adherence to safety procedures, proper handling of chemicals, reporting of hazards and incidents, and active participation in training. A flexible work schedule including 2nd & 3rd shifts, weekends, and coverage for other technicians is necessary.

Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing and sitting
  • Working in a variety of conditions (heat, cold, dust, etc.)
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Working from heights, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders
  • Successful completion of a background check

Responsibilities

  • Collecting and distribution of samples
  • Physical testing of production samples
  • Daily calibration of standard lab instruments
  • Recording and interpreting test results
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the laboratory environment
  • Maintains samples of tested product in order to confirm test results when necessary
  • Maintains on-going records of the results of all testing procedures and inputs such data into computer on a daily basis
  • Maintains adequate supplies used for testing procedures and notifies the supervisor of the need to re-order such supplies
  • Continually compares test results with standards as required to insure that all flour is within specification
  • Shift work
  • Sending COAs (Certificate of Analysis)
  • Notifies appropriate colleagues when product is not within specification
  • Performs monthly check samples
  • Prepares and sends samples to the central and third party labs
  • Verify CCP’s (Critical Control Points) in the mill
  • Perform GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)Inspections in the mill and packaging
  • Maintains a neat and clean working area at all times, washing equipment as required and placing equipment in the proper storage areas
  • Maintains an effective working relationship with fellow employees
  • Performs duties in a safe manner, utilizing all approved safety equipment and successfully completes all safety certification requirements
  • Maintains awareness and adheres to all FDA, GMP, BRC, BATF, EPA, OSHA and employer standards and guidelines
  • Handles various chemicals in assorted containers in the manner outlined in the manufacturer’s chemical Safety Data Sheet
  • Informs supervisor immediately of any hazards, unsafe equipment and/or acts
  • Additionally reports immediately any accidents, injuries and near misses to supervisor
  • Participates actively in training
  • Reports to work in a condition to be able to perform all duties
  • Practices proper personal hygiene
  • Familiarizes themselves with the hazards in their work area and how to protect themselves
  • Understands that accidents are preventable and that safety is everyone’s responsibility
