About The Position

The Lab Technician provides assistance with organizing, planning, and preparing the lab and work-based learning job sites. The role helps maintain and organize carpentry materials, tools, and construction equipment housed in JH160 and related storage spaces, and may assist with inventory, planning, and preparation for ongoing work at work-based learning sites. The technician also assists with ongoing lab projects.

The position involves keeping the construction classroom, lab, and storage spaces clean and organized; maintaining tools and equipment; supporting improvements to lab and storage areas; and maintaining documentation and inventories. The technician is expected to report for scheduled shifts on time and ready to work, record work activities, use Microsoft Office applications to process data and maintain accurate records, and support an inclusive environment that welcomes people of all backgrounds and experiences.

Requirements

• Micro-computer application competency.
• Competency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds regularly and 75 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to work in all seasonal weather conditions.
• Must report for scheduled work shifts on time and ready to work.
• Must support and promote an environment that welcomes, values, and nurtures people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with construction power tools and equipment is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Keep JH160 and construction classroom and lab space clean and organized.
• Keep construction storage spaces clean and organized.
• Perform general required maintenance of construction tools and equipment.
• Assist with ongoing lab and storage space improvements.
• Collect and catalog operator manuals for power tools and equipment.
• Collect and maintain an SDS catalog of hazardous materials.
• Maintain a current power tool inventory.
• Record and maintain an ongoing list of work activities.
• Perform other related work duties as assigned.
