About The Position

US Fertility is hiring a part-time Andrology Lab Technician for Fertility Center of Illinois at its Chicago on Chestnut office, located at 361 W. Chestnut, Chicago, Illinois. The schedule is every Saturday and Sunday from 6:30 AM to 12:00 PM, with occasional holidays. Compensation is $23.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. The technician supports andrology laboratory operations, including handling and processing specimens and frozen samples, preparing semen for assisted reproductive technology (ART) procedures and intrauterine inseminations (IUIs), and performing quality-control procedures. The role works with laboratory personnel to provide services in accordance with applicable laws and guidelines and to help maintain laboratory accreditation.

Requirements

Minimum of one year of laboratory experience.
Bachelor’s degree in biological science or a related field, or MLT ASCP certification equivalent.

Nice To Haves

Experience with a chemistry analyzer is strongly preferred.
Tissue culture experience and/or semen processing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Ship, receive, and disposition frozen samples.
Order and receive laboratory supplies.
Examine and process specimens for routine semen analysis.
Perform counts for concentration and motility.
Perform histological techniques to identify leucocytes, immature germ cells, and morphology.
Process semen for ART procedures and intrauterine inseminations (IUIs).
Perform semen cryopreservation.
Ensure proper sample collection, delivery, and identification, including chain of custody.
Perform daily and monthly quality-control procedures for media and equipment used in the Andrology laboratory.
Assist laboratory personnel in performing laboratory services in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and guidelines to help ensure the laboratory maintains accreditation.
