About The Position

Wyman-Gordon, located in Worcester, MA, provides Isothermal Forgings for military and commercial turbine applications using nickel based and titanium alloys. Full Heat Treating, Machining and Testing on site. This growing, $200 million profit center is part of a highly successful, multi-billion diversified manufacturer, Precision Castparts Corporation (PCC). The purpose of this role is to provide overall technical support to Worcester Metallurgy, Quality, and Operations.

Requirements

• Minimum of high school diploma with concentration in science or mathematics.
• Proficient in PC skills (XP, WORD, EXCEL).
• Must also be able to work independently with minimum direction.
• Must be available to work weekends
• Analytical problem solving.
• Effective listening and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
• Attention to detail.
• Good math skills.
• Ability to lift 35 lbs.
• US Citizenship or Perm Residency is required due to government military contracts.

Nice To Haves

• College degree or course work preferred.
• Experience handling acids and chemicals preferred
• Experience working in trades, operating machinery preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare metallurgical specimens and perform microstructure evaluations.
• Prepare and evaluate on-part microstructures on Titanium & Ni-based Superalloys
• Provide support to Worcester Metallurgy
• Preparation of different chemical etchants for microstructure evaluation.
