About The Position

Deibel Laboratories is hiring a full-time Food Laboratory Technician at its Niles, Illinois location. The entry-level position involves learning basic microbiology and accurately performing laboratory testing procedures and recording results. Deibel is willing to train candidates. The role is scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., for 40 hours per week. Starting hourly pay is $18–$20, depending on experience, with benefits.

Requirements

• Interest in learning basic microbiology and accurately performing testing procedures.
• Basic computer skills are useful for entering testing data and results.
• Planning skills are useful for maintaining analysis supplies and meeting completion timelines.
• Basic math skills.
• Physical dexterity to manipulate samples.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 10–15 pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to work around occasional laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials, and to wear gloves, a laboratory coat, and eyeglasses as required by the testing process.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in manufacturing, production, warehousing, the food industry, food service, baking, as a barista, or retail.

Responsibilities

• Learn basic microbiology and accurately perform testing procedures to obtain reliable results.
• Enter testing data and results using a computer.
• Help maintain supplies of analysis materials and complete analyses within specified timelines.
