About The Position

SGS's Scarborough, ME laboratory is seeking an entry-level Lab Technician I. The role prepares samples accurately and precisely according to SGS analytical standard operating procedures (SOPs), using basic department-specific instrumentation and analytical methods. The technician works independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. The position requires following safe laboratory practices and maintaining a safe working environment.

Requirements

High school diploma.
English language skills.
Basic mathematical skills.
Basic reasoning skills and abilities.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree in chemistry or a similar scientific discipline.
1–2 years of relevant experience in analytical chemistry laboratories.

Responsibilities

Prepare samples for analysis according to SGS analytical SOPs using basic department-specific instrumentation and analytical methodologies after appropriate training.
Perform routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of preparation instruments and equipment.
Assist with validation and MDL studies as needed.
Input and maintain technical information to support laboratory functions and operations.
Maintain a Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
Perform other duties as required.
Meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met.
Follow safe laboratory practices and maintain a safe working environment.
