About The Position

The Laboratory Technician I (Lab Tech I) plays an instrumental role in ensuring product quality standards are met. The Lab Tech I will perform routine laboratory functions including, but not limited to: Pick up samples from various worksites and return samples to the laboratory Ensure the proper storage and packaging for ingredients/samples in transport and in the lab Prepare samples of raw ingredients, juices and finished product for microbiological testing and environmental swabs Conduct environmental and raw material testing Follow an established product test schedule to conduct Brix, pH, titratable acids, and lactic acid testing Works collaboratively with other departments, such as R&D and Product Handling, to conduct tests of samples Accurately read and record the results of tests into internal database Update Standard Operating Procedures as necessary Maintain cleanliness and inventory of laboratory equipment Follow all safety procedures

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of job-related experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology or related/equivalent experience
  • Strong attention to detail; passion for accuracy and granular details
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Communication: ability to convey information clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing
  • Partner collaboratively and place a premium on team success over individual accomplishments
  • Consistently meet deadlines; ensures time sensitive tests are completed as specified
  • Work efficiently and effectively to prioritize tasks
  • Knowledge of QA/QC processes, GMPs, HACCP, and food safety standards
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and be able to drive a motor vehicle to travel locally
  • Ability to frequently lift, move and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills required to prepare samples
