Lab Support Technician
About The Position
Saint Luke’s Plaza is seeking a full-time evening Lab Support Technician to support its laboratory team. The role involves collecting blood and processing specimens as part of a multidisciplinary, collaborative team with varied backgrounds and experience levels. The technician collects patient samples according to laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory standards; documents and prepares samples; may perform and report basic laboratory testing as needed; identifies and resolves circumstances that could interfere with accurate collection; and communicates with nursing and unit staff about patient collections.
Requirements
- Applicable experience: less than 1 year.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in laboratory work and phlebotomy is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Collect patient samples in accordance with laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Document receipt of patient samples in the LIS/EMR and process and prepare samples for testing.
- Perform and report basic laboratory testing as needed.
- Identify and resolve patient circumstances that might interfere with accurate sample collection.
- Communicate with nursing and unit staff about patient collections.
