Lab Support Technician
About The Position
Saint Luke’s Mission Farms is seeking a Phlebotomist, Lab Support Technician to support its laboratory team. The role collects patient samples using phlebotomy best practices, documents receipt of samples in the Laboratory Information System (LIS), and prepares samples for analysis. The technician follows laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory standards when collecting specimens, uses education and experience to identify and resolve circumstances that could interfere with accurate collection, and communicates collection-related information to nursing and unit staff. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with rotating Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Requirements
- Applicable experience: less than 1 year.
- Phlebotomy Technician (ASCP) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
Responsibilities
- Collect patient samples using phlebotomy best practices.
- Document receipt of patient samples in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and prepare them for analysis.
- Collect patient specimens in accordance with laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Identify and resolve patient circumstances that might interfere with accurate sample collection.
- Communicate information concerning patient collections to nursing and unit staff.
