About The Position

Saint Luke’s Plaza is seeking a full-time evening Lab Support Technician to support its laboratory team. The role includes collecting blood and other patient samples and processing specimens. The laboratory is described as a multidisciplinary, collaborative team with diverse backgrounds and experience levels.

The schedule is 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., four 10-hour shifts per week. The position includes a rotating weekend day (Saturday or Sunday, once every five weeks) and a holiday shift during the year.

Requirements

• Applicable experience: less than one year.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in laboratory work and phlebotomy is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient samples in accordance with laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Document receipt of patient samples in the LIS/EMR and process and prepare samples for testing.
• Perform and report basic laboratory testing as needed.
• Use education and experience to identify and resolve patient circumstances that could interfere with accurate sample collection.
• Communicate effectively with nursing and unit staff about patient collections.
