About The Position

The Senior Lab Administrator is an experienced caretaker of the labs who can resolve many tickets independently and may be responsible for entire labs. The role provides guidance and mentorship to Lab Admins and supports existing software tools while creating new tools for the labs. It requires strong knowledge of UNIX (FreeBSD), Linux (RHEL/CentOS), PERL/Python, TCP/IP, and VMware ESX Administration. The role is designed as onsite, with the expectation that the employee will primarily work from an HPE office.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• 7+ years of experience within the labs.
• Strong knowledge of UNIX (FreeBSD), Linux (RHEL/CentOS), PERL/Python, TCP/IP, and VMware ESX Administration.

Nice To Haves

• Red Hat Certified Engineer certification.
• Juniper Networks Certified Associate certification.
• Juniper Networks Certified Specialist certification.
• VMware Certified Associate certification.

Responsibilities

• Resolve a large number of tickets independently and without supervision.
• Take responsibility for entire labs.
• Help and advise Lab Admins and mentor them.
• Support existing software tools for the labs and create new tools.
• Install network and computer equipment.
• Reinstall software on lab devices.
• Add new devices to the database system.
• Troubleshoot and replace broken hardware.
• Build or change topologies between devices and document the changes.
• Build and deploy virtual machines using Proxmox or ESX vCenter.
