Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a full-time Lab Quality Assurance Coordinator. This role functions as a member of the Cabell Huntington Hospital (CHH) Laboratory Services Team, playing a central role in the quality assurance, performance improvement program, and the training of laboratory personnel. The coordinator manages the QA/PI program for monitoring and evaluating patient care services, develops annual performance improvement initiatives, and submits an annual assessment of the program. Responsibilities include evaluating service quality, equipment, personnel, and working accommodations through inspections and report reviews, analyzing data for trends, and recommending changes based on findings. The role involves interpreting agency policies, preparing guidelines, advising supervisors on procedure manuals, and implementing laboratory improvement programs. Additionally, the coordinator determines training objectives, develops curriculum and materials, and creates original materials for quality control training, utilizing expertise to select current and effective laboratory processes. The position also assists with establishing professional standards that comply with accreditation requirements and regulatory procedures, develops criteria consistent with accreditation, and communicates directly with regulatory agencies. The coordinator assures compliance with proficiency testing programs, oversees a comprehensive training and competency assessment program, and maintains current professional advances through education and networking. They also establish and maintain liaison with other agencies and institutions, develop instructions for converting to automated testing systems, and utilize cloud-based software for document control and compliance. The role involves recognizing and defining testing problems, evaluating methods for solution, ensuring the quality of laboratory services, assessing laboratory needs, and establishing record-keeping systems to assure accuracy and validity of test results. Patient confidentiality is protected by following HIPAA guidelines, and the incumbent participates in training students and new employees, completing assigned duties in a timely manner, and assisting others. The position requires strong communication skills and a customer service orientation, with BLS certification required and maintained.
