About The Position
This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Lab Demonstrator in HLSC 2P07 for the Winter D3-20 term at Brock University. The nominal workload for this position is 10 hours per week, consisting of 6 hours of demonstrating and 4 hours of marking and lab preparation. Duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement. The role involves assisting students in laboratory procedures, demonstrating techniques, maintaining safe lab conditions, preparing and cleaning up labs, marking lab reports, and attending meetings as needed, all under the direction of the Senior Lab Instructor.
Requirements
- An undergraduate degree in Health Sciences or related discipline.
- Demonstrated competency in biostatistics.
- Demonstrated skills in statistical software (specifically R).
- For Brock undergraduate applicants, must be at the fourth-year level of an honors program and have completed this course successfully.
- Ability to communicate effectively and provide constructive feedback.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet agreed upon deadlines.
- Experience or training with online synchronous and asynchronous course support.
- Proficiency with online delivery tools (e.g., Lifesize, Microsoft Teams, Brightspace), computer spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), and electronic audience response systems.
- Available to provide feedback in person and, when required, online.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in teaching biostatistics laboratory is an asset.
Responsibilities
