About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Lab Demonstrator for BIOL 1P92 in the Winter D3 term. Compensation for Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator, and Lab Demonstrator positions is based on qualifications. Employees without a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate of $22.07 per hour (effective September 1, 2024). Employees with a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate of $34.73 per hour (effective September 1, 2024). Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The nominal workload for this position is 10 hours per week, consisting of 6 hours of demonstrating and 4 hours of marking and lab preparation. Duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement. The incumbent, under the direction of the Senior Lab Instructor, is responsible for understanding laboratory procedures, introducing the lab, demonstrating techniques, assisting students, maintaining safe lab conditions, preparing and cleaning up the lab, marking lab reports, and attending necessary meetings.

Requirements

• MSc or currently enrolled in a graduate program in Biological Sciences
• Completed BIOL 1P92 or an equivalent course
