About The Position

This is an entry-level role in an accredited food safety laboratory. Responsibilities include performing chemical, microbiological, and quality system analyses. Precision, accuracy, and attention to detail are essential. Team members must maintain complete records for process control and ensure compliance with all policies, quality systems, and safety requirements. Team members will be expected to demonstrate and maintain proficiency testing qualifications; work independently and collaboratively; resolve routine problems; plan work tasks; operate, troubleshoot, and conduct basic service and maintenance on laboratory instruments; and show development and growth following training. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • College degree in a science-related field such as Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Food Science, Physical Sciences, or related areas preferred.
  • Candidates with college-level science coursework and working laboratory experience may also be considered.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Work activities follow clearly defined directions and guidelines.
  • Most work steps are prescribed and cannot be modified.
  • Many duties involve repetitive operations.
  • Entry-level role.
  • First consideration will be given to applicants with a degree.
  • Second consideration to those with education and experience related to Chemistry and/or Microbiology.

Responsibilities

  • Performing one or more procedures and work instructions related to chemical, microbiological, and quality system analyses in an accredited food safety laboratory.
  • Maintaining complete records for process control.
  • Ensuring compliance with all policies, quality systems, and safety requirements.
  • Demonstrating and maintaining proficiency testing qualifications.
  • Working independently and collaboratively.
