About The Position
The Lab Associate 2 Clinical is responsible for accessioning specimens or patient tissue materials for testing, including packaging materials to be sent to referring laboratories, with minimal guidance. The role works closely with laboratory staff, medical staff, and external customers, and performs customer service functions such as telephone etiquette, basic troubleshooting, and problem resolution. The position also supports specimen processing and general clerical work within Specimen Management 2nd Shift.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of relevant work experience.
- Fundamental proficiency in quality assurance, specimen collection, pathology, laboratory practices, customer service, and equipment maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Sort, triage, receive, send, process, and batch specimens.
- Process samples pre-analytically for testing.
- Provide general clerical support.
- Accession specimens or patient tissue materials for testing and package materials for shipment to referring laboratories.
- Perform customer service functions, including telephone etiquette, basic troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
- Work closely with laboratory staff, medical staff, and external customers.
