Lab Assistant (Specimen Technician I)
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Lab Assistant (Specimen Technician I) to support specimen processing and laboratory operations in Miramar, Florida. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM, with most work performed on the night shift. Based on staffing needs, weekends, holidays, on-call work, and overtime may be required. The role includes entering test orders, sorting and transporting processed specimens, centrifuging and aliquoting specimens, preparing samples for analysis, and processing specimens for shipment to other facilities. The assistant identifies specimen issues, may resolve problems such as missing information, and understands the relationship between ordered tests and received specimens. The pay range starts at $18.33 per hour. Employees may qualify for shift differentials of 10% for some or all second-shift hours and 15% for some or all third-shift hours. Eligible candidates may also receive annual performance bonus compensation. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- No experience required.
- Flexibility to work primarily night shifts; weekends, holidays, on-call work, and overtime may be required based on staffing needs.

Responsibilities
- Enter test orders, presort specimens, and pick up and deliver processed specimens to the laboratory.
- Centrifuge and aliquot specimens.
- Process specimens to be sent to additional facilities.
- Prepare laboratory specimens for various analyses and testing.
- Identify specimen problems and, in some cases, resolve issues such as missing information.
- Understand the relationship between tests ordered and specimens received.
