About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join its team at Henry Ford St John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. This role works in a high-volume, production-based environment and performs a vital component of clinical laboratory science. The position is scheduled for Shift 2 on a casual/as-needed basis.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Currently enrolled in an MLT or MLS program.
• Comfort handling biological specimens.
• Ability to accurately identify specimens.
• Basic computer knowledge and data-entry skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet established turnaround times.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of medical, laboratory, or production experience.

Responsibilities

• Receive and sort clinical laboratory specimens.
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
• Scan and/or enter specimen and patient information.
• Ensure laboratory equipment is functioning properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance.
• Troubleshoot specimen-related issues.
• Replenish test bench supplies as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards.
