About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join its team at Ascension St Agnes in Baltimore, Maryland. This role works in a high-volume, production-based environment and performs a vital component of clinical laboratory science. The Lab Assistant supports laboratory operations by receiving, sorting, and preparing specimens; recording specimen and patient information; maintaining equipment and supplies; and following procedures that uphold safety and quality standards. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with rotating weekends and holidays. The position may require overtime as needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Comfort handling biological specimens.
Ability to accurately identify specimens.
Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multitask.
Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet established turnaround times.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.
Flexibility to work overtime as needed.

Nice To Haves

Two or more years of medical, laboratory, or production experience in a hospital laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

Receive and sort clinical laboratory specimens.
Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
Scan and/or enter specimen and patient information.
Ensure laboratory equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance.
Troubleshoot specimen-related issues.
Replenish test bench supplies as needed.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested.
Follow Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards.
