Lab Assistant - Tyler, Texas
About The Position
The Lab Assistant supports the patient care process by ensuring laboratory specimens are properly processed, prepared, routed, and stored. The role involves recognizing when corrective action is needed and implementing effective solutions, while championing safety, compliance, and quality control in a laboratory environment with biological hazards and PPE requirements. The position has routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI); employees must maintain strict confidentiality, follow applicable privacy and security standards, and access PHI only as needed to fulfill job duties. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible, first-shift position in Tyler, Texas, with 40 scheduled weekly hours.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous training or experience in specimen collection or processing.
- Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including telephones, computers, centrifuges, and audible alarms.
Nice To Haves
- One to two years of related experience in a clinical laboratory, data entry, or production.
