About The Position

The Lab Assistant performs routine technical and clerical functions in the Clinical Laboratory, including specimen registration and billing. The role performs venipuncture, receives and distributes laboratory specimens, and carries out phlebotomy duties as assigned. The Lab Assistant also performs waived testing and assists with Microbiology specimen processing and plating as requested.

Requirements

• One year of laboratory experience and/or completion of formal phlebotomy training.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of the organization.
• Phlebotomy certification where required by state law.

Nice To Haves

• Basic laboratory computer and laboratory information system experience.
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT, or similar.
