About The Position

Logan Health's Medical Center Laboratory has an opening for a Lab Aide Processor to be part of their team in Kalispell, MT! We will train! As a Lab Aide in processing, you will support daily laboratory operations by receiving and handling various specimen types, including urine, microbiology samples, swabs, surgical specimens, and blood. You will also verify labeling accuracy and relabel specimens when necessary, distribute specimens to appropriate laboratory departments for testing, and answer phones and provide courteous, timely customer service. Other job duties include serving as an advocate/educator for improved collection and ordering procedures for assigned area(s) as applicable, serving as contact for inquiries in order to provide timely status and processing updates of specimens, escalating unresolved issues per department procedure and protocol, ensuring correct patient identification and information, answering or referring inquiries promptly and courteously per department procedure, verifying patient identification prior to collection and labels specimens accurately, and handling incoming specimens, sorting and delivering to processing, and checking accuracy of requisition and labeling of specimens per department protocol. Other duties may be assigned similar to the above consistent with knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job. Not all of the duties may be assigned to a position. Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.

Requirements

  • Must be comfortable working in a laboratory environment and handling specimens, as well as urine or blood samples
  • Current CPR certification per assigned area(s).
  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.

  • Prior healthcare or lab experience is preferred, but not required.
