About The Position

The Clinical Nurse (RN) is responsible and accountable for delivering safe, effective, high-quality nursing care in accordance with the Department of Nursing’s philosophy, goals, and objectives. Using Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring, Relationship Based Care, and the organization’s professional nursing practice model, the RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for assigned patients, tracking progress toward goals and working therapeutically with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to promote, maintain, and restore health. Care is tailored to patients’ physiologic, developmental, and psychosocial needs and supports the organization’s mission, vision, values, and expectations of excellence. The RN applies scientific knowledge from the social, biological, and physical sciences through the nursing process. The role includes assessing patients, identifying nursing diagnoses, developing and revising individualized care plans, providing and explaining nursing interventions, teaching patients and families, and evaluating treatment responses. The RN uses equipment, instrumentation, and medications safely; delegates and supervises care within legal scopes of practice; advocates for patients’ informed decisions and interests; provides culturally competent, age-appropriate, ethical care within legal standards; and coordinates care with nurses, physicians, allied health professionals, and ancillary team members. The position also requires effective patient handoffs, documentation in accordance with hospital policies, and use of manual and automated information systems. The RN contributes to patient satisfaction by supporting a positive patient experience, understanding the effect of personal behavior on that experience, helping resolve complaints promptly, and investigating physician, employee, and patient complaints and reporting information to the CNIV or Clinical Manager.
