About The Position

Under the direction of the foreman, the working leader is responsible for assigning, instructing and checking work as delegated by the foreman in each area. This role involves managing production schedules, reassigning personnel for maximum productivity, training operators, monitoring equipment and personnel for efficient process flow, and reporting unusual conditions to the foreman. The working leader also conducts periodic inspections, makes recommendations, and assumes responsibility for plant safety and security during off-shift operations, including the foreman's duties in their absence. Compliance with all departmental and company-wide food safety policies and procedures is required.

Requirements

3+ years of food manufacturing experience
Ability to effectively communicate
Highly detail oriented
Understanding and knowledge of basic mechanics
Frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear
Frequently required to reach above shoulders, climb, work at heights, crouch, stoop or kneel
Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds usually from floor to waist level, and able to lift 25 pounds repetitively at or above shoulder height
Ability to work under conditions of high temperature and high humidity for extended periods of time

Responsibilities

Working from detail production schedules, make sure each work assignment is properly manned.
Anticipate changing work schedules and reassign personnel as conditions change to achieve maximum productivity.
Train operators in the proper operation of equipment and safety working procedures.
Monitor and assist personnel and equipment to ensure maximum utilization of time and efficient process flow.
Monitor and report any unusual conditions to foreman to ensure corrections can be made accordingly.
As instructed by foreman make periodic inspections and provide recommendations.
During off shift operations, assume responsibility for the safety and security of the plant in addition to supervising help and carrying out work assignments.
Assume foreman’s duties in their absence.
Comply with all departmental & company-wide food safety policies & procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
