2nd Shift Working Leader
About The Position
Under the direction of the foreman, the working leader is responsible for assigning, instructing and checking work as delegated by the foreman in each area. This role involves ensuring work assignments are properly manned, anticipating changing work schedules, and reassigning personnel to achieve maximum productivity. The working leader also trains operators, monitors personnel and equipment for efficient process flow, and reports unusual conditions to the foreman. During off-shift operations, this role assumes responsibility for plant safety and security, supervises staff, and carries out work assignments, including assuming the foreman's duties in their absence. Compliance with all departmental and company-wide food safety policies and procedures is required.
Requirements
- 3+ years of food manufacturing experience
- Ability to effectively communicate
- Highly detail oriented
- Understanding and knowledge of basic mechanics
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear
- Frequently required to reach above shoulders, climb, work at heights, crouch, stoop or kneel
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds usually from floor to waist level
- Able to lift 25 pounds repetitively at or above shoulder height
- Ability to work under conditions of high temperature and high humidity for extended periods of time
- Behave and communicate in a manner which will facilitate good relations with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors; maintaining a positive work atmosphere
Responsibilities
- Assigning, instructing, and checking work as delegated by the foreman.
- Ensuring work assignments are properly manned based on detail production schedules.
- Anticipating changing work schedules and reassigning personnel to achieve maximum productivity.
- Training operators in the proper operation of equipment and safety procedures.
- Monitoring and assisting personnel and equipment to ensure maximum utilization of time and efficient process flow.
- Monitoring and reporting any unusual conditions to the foreman for corrections.
- Making periodic inspections and providing recommendations as instructed by the foreman.
- Assuming responsibility for the safety and security of the plant during off-shift operations, supervising help, and carrying out work assignments.
- Assuming foreman's duties in their absence.
- Complying with all departmental & company-wide food safety policies & procedures.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
