About The Position

The Kitchen Worker prepares and serves a variety of food items according to assigned work instructions and menus in a jail or correctional facility. The position is onsite and reports to a Food Service Director. The role involves preparing food, serving scheduled meals, maintaining a clean and food-safe workstation, and completing routine kitchen cleaning tasks. It requires standing for much of the shift and performing physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, and walking.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and/or equivalent experience.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Able to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, and walking, and to stand for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

• Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience.
• Passion for food and service.
• Understanding of food handling regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assist team members with preparing quality foods according to planned menus, recipes, and work instructions, promptly.
• Clean as work proceeds and maintain a neat, food-safe workstation.
• Pull trash, sweep, and mop.
• Serve food during planned meal schedules according to department procedures.
• Use kitchen utensils and equipment to cook food according to recipes.
• Follow food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage.
• Perform routine kitchen tasks while staying organized and clean.
• Complete other responsibilities as determined by business needs.
