Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be proficient in recipe procedure, cooking techniques.
  • Ability to speak and read English in order to understand and perform job assignments.
  • Extensive physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting up to 40lbs, bending, pushing, and pulling.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold) due to cooking and refrigeration equipment.
  • Must be Serv Safe certified or willing to obtain certification within 90-days of entering position.
  • Must have a basic knowledge of food service sanitation and proper food handling skills.
  • Ability to assess the workflow of the kitchen and make adjustments as needed.
  • Ability to delegate tasks to associates and verify completion.
  • Ability to evaluate the performance of associates, identify areas of improvement, and provide guidance on corrective actions.
  • Must possess and display leadership and team management skills.
  • Must possess and display a positive attitude as well as the ability to motivate others.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with deadlines.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Must possess problem solving skills with the ability to make quick, appropriate decisions.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service regularly, displaying a friendly, courteous attitude.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of food service sanitation and proper food handling skills.
  • Display professional communication skills with client staff and Whitsons associates
  • Ability to use industrial equipment as well as standard kitchen utensils.
  • Ability to read and understand menus and recipes.
  • Ability to stand and walk on concrete and tile floors for up to 8 hours at a time.
  • Ability to safely lift, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to withstand a wide range of temperatures.
  • Proficient in the operation of a personal computer including Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1 year prior experience in food service supervisor role preferred.
  • Prior experience cooking in contract food service a plus.

  • Pitching in with food orders, government commodities, and day-to-day kitchen needs
  • Handling customer feedback with positivity and purpose
