About The Position

The Kitchen Steward is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and proper storage of all china, glass, and silver, ensuring the highest standards of sanitation. This role also involves assisting the kitchen staff with maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and all storage areas, specifically cleaning equipment, utensils, and the physical work area. Additionally, the Kitchen Steward will assist with proper food storage and rotation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Background with working at a hotel/resort or related is preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Motor vehicle background check will be completed.
  • Maintain friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks during the work shift.
  • Must show initiative in job performance, including anticipating what needs to be done before it becomes a necessity.
  • Works well in stressful, high-pressure situations – fast paced environment.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Position requires you to be able to stand, walk, bend and stoop for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able work in different types of weather sometimes extreme, including high temperatures and humidity.
  • Working in a confined space with exposure to hot kitchen environments on a daily basis.
  • Operating a variety of equipment specific to kitchens, along with safety equipment such as fire extinguishers.

Responsibilities

  • Operate dish-washing equipment to ensure all china, glass, and silver are cleaned thoroughly and sanitation is maintained.
  • Replace all clean china, glass, and silver in its proper storage location, taking care to minimize breakage.
  • Wash pots, pans, and kitchen utensils following proper procedures for cleanliness and sanitation, storing them in the proper location.
  • Sweep and mop floors in the kitchen and restaurant.
  • Empty garbage from Food and Beverage areas into the resort dumpster.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the back dock and dumpster area.
  • Perform other tasks/jobs as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
