About The Position

The Kitchen Steward will be responsible for removing soiled plates and flatware from tables, washing them thoroughly, and resetting tables in preparation for the next party. They may also restock items, unload delivery trucks, help prepare cook stations, clean appliances and machines, and empty and clean trash receptacles. This role requires adherence to sanitation laws and safety standards, maintaining clean floors, and assisting other kitchen staff as needed. The ideal candidate will have a friendly and energetic demeanor, a passion for customer service, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. Knowledge of hotel food & safety compliance procedures is also important.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • California Food Handlers / ServSafe Certification
  • A positive, service-oriented attitude and desire to contribute to a team
  • Detail oriented
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Minimum 6-months of hospitality kitchen experience

Responsibilities

  • Remove soiled plates and flatware from tables.
  • Wash plates and flatware thoroughly.
  • Reset tables in preparation for the next party.
  • Restock items.
  • Unload delivery trucks.
  • Help prepare cook stations.
  • Clean appliances and machines.
  • Empty and clean trash receptacles.
  • Promptly and carefully sort soiled ware so that it can be put through the dish or pot machine properly.
  • Maintain and enforce sanitation laws and safety standards with anyone entering the kitchen area.
  • Clean and dry floors to avoid slip/fall accidents.
  • Assist cook, bus person or server when necessary.
  • Set up and organize workstation with designated supplies and equipment.
  • Replenish supplies as needed.
  • Ensure the safety and security of guests and employees by adhering to hotel food & safety compliance procedures and hotel safety procedures.
