About The Position

The Kitchen Steward maintains cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout the kitchen. The role includes cleaning dishes, pots, equipment, and floors; removing trash; and returning clean china, glassware, and silverware to their proper storage locations without breakage. The Kitchen Steward supports the kitchen team, interacts with guests and teammates, and takes on tasks with a flexible, can-do attitude. The position also requires reliability, sound judgment, and the ability to remain composed under pressure. The hotel is located in downtown Springfield and serves leisure and business travelers, with a restaurant, sports bar, and meeting and event venues.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, and/or relevant experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly.
Strong decision-making skills, including the ability to evaluate and select among alternative actions quickly and accurately.
Ability to perform effectively in stressful, high-pressure situations.
Ability to maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
Reliability, good character, and a flexible, can-do attitude.

Nice To Haves

Relevant experience in a hotel or related field.

Responsibilities

Clean dishes and scrub pots.
Clean kitchen equipment and sweep floors.
Take out the trash and keep kitchen areas clean.
Return clean china, glassware, and silverware to their proper storage locations, taking care to prevent breakage.
Maintain sanitation and kitchen organization.
Work with the kitchen team and interact with guests and teammates.
Adapt to changing tasks and work independently when needed.
Represent the team reliably and make sound decisions.
