About The Position
Summerhill Market is a boutique grocer in Toronto known for its scratch-made prepared foods, freshly baked treats, and on-trend ingredients. Our Commissary Kitchen is the hub of our prepared foods operation, producing fresh meals, salads, sandwiches, and specialty products for all Summerhill Market locations. We are currently seeking two Kitchen Helpers to join our Fresh Rolls production team.
Requirements
- Previous kitchen, food prep, production, or restaurant experience is an asset
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and consistency
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Comfortable performing repetitive production tasks
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Flexible availability including weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift and carry products and stand for extended periods
- Comfortable starting work at 4:00 AM
Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients for fresh roll production, including washing, cutting, portioning, and organizing vegetables and proteins
- Assemble fresh rolls according to recipes and production standards
- Package, label, and prepare finished products for distribution
- Ensure products meet quality, consistency, and presentation standards
- Follow daily production schedules and meet production targets
- Maintain clean and organized workstations throughout the shift
- Support inventory rotation and ingredient replenishment
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health and safety procedures
- Assist with general kitchen production duties as required
