About The Position

Island Crisis Care Society (ICCS) is seeking a dependable and collaborative Kitchen Helper to support food-based initiatives across several ICCS programs. Reporting to the Kitchen Manager of the Rising Hope Kitchen Program, this role contributes to community care through meaningful food preparation and engagement. This position is well-suited for someone who is passionate about food, enjoys working in a team environment, and is motivated by helping others. The ideal candidate will be organized, comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen setting, and able to follow food safety procedures with care and attention to detail. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to take direction are essential. Candidates must hold a valid FoodSafe certification. A driver’s license and access to a vehicle are preferred, as the role may involve occasional travel between program locations.

Requirements

  • Must hold a valid FoodSafe certification.
  • Be aged between 15 and 30 years old on the start date of the job.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN).
  • Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • A driver’s license and access to a vehicle are preferred, as the role may involve occasional travel between program locations.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Kitchen Manager to further develop the program and promote in the community.
  • Prepare sandwiches and other food items for the Drop-In Hub.
  • Create materials such as posters and social media posts for the Rising Hope Kitchen Program.
  • Participate in food-based Life Skills workshops at various ICCS housing sites.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Wage: $18.50/hr for 30 hours per week for 9 weeks
