About The Position

Aspira West Park Crossing Retirement Living is seeking a Kitchen Assistant for a temporary part-time position with 32 hours biweekly, ending in July 2027. The role involves supporting the kitchen team in various tasks to ensure smooth operations and high-quality service for residents.

Requirements

• Minimum Grade 12 education.
• Minimum one year of experience in Dishwashing and/or Serving.
• Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate.
• Valid Serve it Right Certificate.
• Good public relations and communication skills.
• Positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence.
• Physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand for the majority of the shift.
• Successful completion of a prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsibilities

• Dishwashing and serving.
• Clearing tables, taking out garbage and recycling, and vacuuming.
• Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
• Receiving, checking, and storing food and supply deliveries in accordance with food safety, Health and Safety standards, and prescribed practices.
• Monitoring the quality and quantity of food supplies received and advising the team leader on duty of any problems.
• Reporting food, supply, and equipment needs to the team leader.
• Assisting with the delivery, set-up, and removal of food for special events, buffets, and catered functions.
• Completing assigned cleaning tasks according to instructions and cleaning schedules.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
