About The Position

Zinnia Health is seeking a Kitchen Aid to support its culinary team at a substance abuse treatment facility. The role helps ensure nutritious and appealing meals are prepared and served to residents while maintaining a supportive and therapeutic environment for individuals in recovery. The Kitchen Aid assists with food preparation, cooking tasks, kitchen maintenance, inventory, and meal service, while following applicable food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.

Requirements

Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Ability to handle kitchen equipment safely.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
Compassionate and understanding attitude toward individuals in recovery, with a non-judgmental approach and excellent communication skills.
Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry heavy items, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred but not required.
Food Handler’s Certificate or ServSafe certification.

Responsibilities

Assist with meal ingredient preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning.
Support the culinary team with cooking tasks and operation of kitchen appliances and equipment.
Keep the kitchen clean and organized, including cleaning dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment according to sanitation practices.
Assist with receiving and storing food supplies, monitoring inventory levels, and rotating stock appropriately.
Help plate and serve meals while accounting for residents’ dietary needs and preferences.
Follow food safety and hygiene standards, including proper food handling and storage to prevent contamination.
Collaborate with kitchen staff and other facility team members to support smooth and efficient operations.
Interact positively and supportively with residents, fostering a respectful and encouraging atmosphere.
