The Kitchen Aid supports the culinary team in preparing and serving nutritious, appealing meals for residents at a substance abuse treatment facility. The role includes assisting with food preparation, kitchen maintenance, and compliance with health and safety regulations while maintaining a supportive and therapeutic environment for individuals in recovery.

Requirements

Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Ability to handle kitchen equipment safely.
Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry heavy items, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
Compassionate and understanding attitude toward individuals in recovery, with a non-judgmental approach and excellent communication skills.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred but not required.
Food Handler’s Certificate or ServSafe certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist with washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients for meals.
Support the culinary team with cooking tasks, including operating kitchen appliances and cooking equipment.
Keep the kitchen clean and organized by following sanitation practices and cleaning dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment.
Assist with receiving and storing food supplies, tracking inventory levels, and rotating stock appropriately.
Help plate and serve meals, taking residents’ dietary needs and preferences into account.
Follow food safety and hygiene standards, including proper food handling and storage to prevent contamination.
Collaborate with kitchen staff and other facility team members to support smooth and efficient operations.
Interact positively and supportively with residents, promoting a respectful and encouraging atmosphere.
