About The Position

The West Suburban YMCA (WSYMCA) is seeking Kids' Corner Program Staff Members to join its Childcare team at the Wells Ave location. The role provides a safe, supervised play environment for children of WSYMCA members while their parent or guardian remains on the premises. Staff help create a welcoming and nurturing community environment and support children’s development through play and group activities.

Requirements

Infant and Adult CPR/AED certification and First Aid certification.
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Previous experience in children’s play, arts and crafts, and group activities.
Completion of required WSYMCA employee trainings.

Responsibilities

Ensure the safety and well-being of each child in their care.
Ensure parents or guardians complete all appropriate forms.
Monitor parent or guardian sign-in and sign-out for children.
Know emergency procedures and how to use the paging system; respond to emergencies according to YMCA policies and procedures and complete related reports as required.
Take turns planning play activities, songs, story time, and creative play.
Enforce health codes and good hygiene.
Find a substitute when unable to work and notify the supervisor as soon as possible about substitutions.
Attend staff meetings when held.
Follow the dress code by wearing the provided child watch T-shirt and name tag at all times.
Review emergency procedures and respond to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
