About The Position

This job performs the duties of a clinical transplant coordinator and supervises organ transplant staff. Hires, counsels, evaluate and schedules personnel. Implements transplant and administrative policies and procedures. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing.
  • 3 years of related experience.
  • Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Ability to be self-directed.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).

Nice To Haves

  • Current American Board of Transplant Coordinators (ABTC) Certification as Clinical Transplant Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Performs pre-transplant clinical activities to ensure patients are assessed and prepared for procedures.
  • Performs clinical activities including rounds, direct patient care, and lab/ test data reviews and interpretations.
  • Performs post-transplant clinical activities to ensure patients receive appropriate aftercare.
  • Educates patients and colleagues on transplant procedures.
  • Acts as a consultant, role model, and resource person for transplant team members, nursing staff, students, and residents.
  • Participates in activities for professional growth.
  • Supervises, trains and develops department staff.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
