Keyholder - New York City Pop-Up

Retail For The PeopleNew York City, NY
Onsite

About The Position

This brand exists to prove one simple thing: it's never too late to learn something new. We take complete beginners, people who've genuinely never tried this before, and walk them through it, step by step, until they're holding something they made with their own two hands and thinking, “wait, I actually did that?” That feeling is basically the whole point of what we do. This fall through the holidays, we're bringing that same warm, hands-on, slightly ridiculous amount of joy to a New York City pop-up, and we're looking for a Keyholder we can trust to open and close the store, keep things running smoothly on their shifts, and step up as backup leadership whenever it's needed. We're a small, lean, do-more-with-less kind of team, and we need someone dependable who gets that energy immediately.

Requirements

  • Some prior retail experience is required
  • Comfortable and energized by the intensity of a fall-through-holiday retail season, including peak gifting periods
  • Genuinely fun, warm, and approachable, this brand's personality is a huge part of the job
  • Comfortable handling cash, POS reconciliation, and opening/closing procedures independently
  • Comfortable demonstrating products and teaching customers hands-on, even if you've never done it before either, we'll train you
  • Flexible availability across the full fall and holiday season, including weekends and key trading/holiday periods

Nice To Haves

  • keyholder, shift lead, or senior associate experience is a plus
  • Comfortable with a little ambiguity, you don't need everything mapped out perfectly to make a good call on your shift
  • Genuinely enjoys creativity, craft, and helping people feel proud of what they make or give as a gift
  • Takes feedback well and gives it just as gracefully, always looking for a better way to do it next time
  • Calm and steady under pressure, especially during peak gifting and holiday traffic

Responsibilities

  • Open or close the store independently on your assigned shifts, including POS setup and end-of-day reconciliation
  • Set the plan for your shift, sales focus, task priorities, and anything the team needs to know before doors open
  • Flag any issues from your shift to the Store Manager or Assistant Manager clearly and promptly
  • Welcome every customer with warmth and make them feel at home from the moment they walk through the door
  • Lead hands-on product demonstrations, helping customers feel confident even if they've never tried this before
  • Help every customer walk away with that unmistakable “I can't believe I actually made that” feeling
  • Handle customer questions or minor issues confidently on your shift, looping in leadership for anything bigger
  • Help drive sales performance during your shifts, supporting gift-focused selling without ever feeling pushy
  • Keep the rest of the team on track and supported when you're the senior person on the floor
  • Maintain the store's colorful, cozy, gift-ready presentation standards during your shifts
  • Make small in-the-moment merchandising fixes as needed — restocking, straightening, keeping things fresh
  • Support inventory receiving, stock organization, and replenishment
  • Handle gift-wrap/packaging flow during peak periods
  • Pitch in wherever the team needs it — this is a small, lean team, and everyone helps everyone
