About The Position

Data Intellect is seeking a seasoned kdb+ developer to lead and deliver high-performance, scalable solutions for data-intensive financial institutions. The role focuses on designing robust kdb+ architectures for large-scale time-series data and translating client business needs into performant code in collaboration with quants, traders, and analysts. The contractor will own the full development lifecycle for client applications, provide technical leadership and mentoring, and contribute to innovation in kdb+, q, and related technologies.

Requirements

• Deep hands-on expertise in kdb+/q development and time-series data solutions.
• Proven experience designing and implementing kdb+ architectures and scaling kdb+ systems in production.
• Strong background in Unix/Linux environments and scripting.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and decision-making in fast-paced projects.
• Excellent communication skills, including explaining complex systems to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in capital markets or investment banking.
• Passion for clean, performant code and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Python, cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, or other time-series databases.
• Exposure to tick data, real-time analytics, or electronic trading systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery on client projects and set standards for quality and performance.
• Design and implement robust kdb+ architectures capable of handling billions of rows of time-series data.
• Collaborate with quants, traders, and analysts to translate business needs into efficient, performant code.
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level developers.
• Develop, test, support, and maintain code for client applications throughout the full development lifecycle.
• Stay current with kdb+, q, and adjacent technologies to drive innovation.
