About The Position

Youngstown Community School is a public community school serving students in grades K-8. For over 25 years, YCS has provided a supportive, student-centered learning environment focused on academic growth, student wellness, positive school culture, and strong community partnerships. We are seeking a passionate and student-focused Physical Education & Health Teacher who is committed to building positive relationships, promoting student wellness, and supporting the whole child through engaging instruction and schoolwide collaboration.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required
• Valid Ohio Teaching License/Certification in Physical Education and/or Health
• Must meet all Ohio Department of Education and Workforce licensure requirements

• Dual Certificate preferred, physical education only will be considered
• Previous experience working with urban and diverse student populations preferred

• Build strong relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners
• Utilize effective instructional strategies that support diverse learning needs
• Collaborate with teachers, intervention staff, and administration to support the whole child
• Maintain organized instructional spaces and ensure student safety at all times
• Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and a willingness to grow through coaching and professional development
• Participate in school improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and professional learning opportunities

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver daily Physical Education and Health instruction for students in grades K-8
• Promote healthy lifestyles, teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical fitness
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
• Implement schoolwide expectations aligned to PBIS and student wellness initiatives
• Supervise students in instructional and non-instructional settings as assigned
• Support schoolwide culture, climate, and attendance initiatives
