About The Position

As a K-12 Physical Education Teacher, you will be responsible for providing engaging and developmentally appropriate physical education instruction to elementary through middle and high school students. Your goal is to foster a positive and inclusive environment, promote physical fitness, and instill a lifelong appreciation for health and well-being. This role requires a strong commitment to Christian Education and a desire to minister to students and athletes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical education or related field required.
  • Appropriate state teaching certification or licensure, or willingness to obtain, required.
  • CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain, required.
  • Strong knowledge of child development, motor skills, and physical fitness.
  • Enthusiasm for promoting healthy lifestyles and wellness.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dedication to creating an intellectually stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
  • Proficiency in educational technology for instructional purposes.
  • Classroom management skills and effective behavior intervention strategies.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth.
  • The ability to stand, sit, move around the classroom for extended periods, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Lifting, bending, and carrying classroom materials and supplies.
  • Operate a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine.
  • Effective communication, both verbal and written, and listen regularly.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience at any grade level, preferably in PE, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and implement age-appropriate physical education curriculum for elementary and middle/high school students.
  • Create and execute engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and educational goals.
  • Instruct students on various physical activities, sports, and fitness exercises to enhance motor skills and overall physical well-being.
  • Create and deliver dynamic lesson plans and teaching materials that align with PE curriculum standards.
  • Adapt instructional methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities within various grade levels.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate physical education into interdisciplinary units.
  • Incorporate technology and educational resources to enhance classroom experiences.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect, and encourages active learning.
  • Ensure the safety of students during physical education activities and implement emergency procedures as needed.
  • Implement effective behavior management strategies and promote positive classroom conduct.
  • Cultivate an atmosphere of inquiry and exploration.
  • Assess and evaluate students' physical abilities, monitor progress, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Regularly assess student progress through various methods, including exams, projects, and class participation.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate results to parents and guardians.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and school administrators to review and analyze student data.
  • Foster open and effective communication with parents and guardians to discuss students' academic and fitness progress.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events.
  • Contribute to building a collaborative home-school partnership.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators regarding students' progress and program initiatives.
  • Stay current with PE research, teaching methodologies, best practices, and advancements in the field.
  • Attend professional development sessions, workshops, and conferences as necessary.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators to share best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Organize and oversee extracurricular activities, such as sports clubs, intramural sports, or fitness programs.
  • Encourage and support students' participation in health and fitness-related extracurricular activities.
  • Provide mentorship to students interested in furthering their health and fitness knowledge.
