About The Position

As a K-9 Handler at MGM Springfield, you will help maintain the safety and security of employees and guests by using a trained and certified detection dog to locate suspicious packages or objects. You will work with security personnel to implement safety protocols and respond to potential threats. The listed starting rate is $22.00 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in law enforcement, military, private security, and/or legal work within the profession.
• Advanced knowledge of investigations.
• Approval by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to handle explosive materials.
• Gaming registration if required by jurisdiction.
• Driver’s license if required by jurisdiction.
• Must be at least 21 years old.

Responsibilities

• Train and certify with a detection-trained dog.
• Use the canine as directed to protect life and property at MGM Resorts International facilities and support designated operations.
• Search vehicles, MGM Resorts International executive aircraft, packages, backpacks, mail, containers, rooms, buildings, areas, or other objects that could contain explosive materials or weapons.
• Maintain the canine’s detection proficiency through routine training and certification.
• Maintain the day-to-day health and welfare of assigned detection dogs, including managing their diet, ensuring access to adequate water, conducting daily health checks, and grooming.
• Maintain all assigned canine-related equipment.
• Conduct daily kennel care.
• Provide basic canine emergency first aid as needed.
• Provide excellent guest service to guests and employees.
