Reading Corps tutors serve at local schools, helping students improve their skills through tutoring and encouragement. Tutors receive training in proven activities and ongoing coaching. During each school day, tutors work with pairs of students in 20-minute sessions, follow a schedule to serve all assigned students, and help students return to their classrooms between sessions. Tutors track student progress, conduct skill assessments, enter scores into data software, and meet regularly with the school's onsite coach. The position also involves participating in training and coaching and sharing the tutoring experience with the community. Positions are for the 2026–27 school year and run from August 2026 through June 2027. Full-time positions are 35 hours per week, with fewer hours during weeks with holidays or school release days. Work takes place during daytime hours aligned with school schedules, Monday through Friday, with holidays and school release days off. Part-time positions are also available at 25 or 15 hours per week. Full-time AmeriCorps members receive a stipend of $19.00 per hour served, paid every two weeks, along with additional benefits.
