About The Position

This role involves supervising and evaluating educators to ensure a high-quality English as a Second Language (ESL) program. The Field Supervisor will assist the Director with various administrative tasks, including interviews, staff assignments, and caseload management. The position requires coordinating teacher assignments and student groupings, supervising ESL and substitute teachers, and providing administrative oversight and consultation to school-based ESL programs. Additionally, the role involves implementing program orientation, mentoring, and professional development for new staff, staying current with state and federal regulations, and developing liaison relationships with school district personnel. The ideal candidate will demonstrate integrity, dependability, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a customer service mindset.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in education required.
  • Five (5) years successful teaching experience; teaching English Learners (ELs) preferred.
  • Pennsylvania supervisory certification and/or K-12 principal certification required.
  • Knowledge of Pennsylvania and Federal law, policy and practice regarding appropriate access to and inclusion of English Learners in all aspects of school programming required.
  • Ability and experience in working as a member of a team required.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and online tools such as Zoom, Teams, Google applications, etc. required.
  • Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Experience in the design and delivery of professional development of school personnel and knowledge of adult learning required.
  • PA Driver’s license and reliable transportation required for travel throughout Allegheny and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and evaluates educators, including formal observations, informal visits, teacher coaching, and implementing plans of improvement.
  • Assists Director with interviews, recommends for employment, and assigns ESL teaching and support staff.
  • Prepares and assigns student caseloads in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Coordinates and maintains documentation for teacher assignments and student groupings.
  • Schedules, assigns, and supervises ESL and substitute teachers to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Provides administrative oversight and consultation services to school district-based ESL programs through supervision contracts, professional development, consultation, and mentoring.
  • Implements program orientation, mentoring, and professional development for new staff through induction.
  • Assists the Director with maintaining knowledge of state and federal developments for program compliance and information dissemination to school districts.
  • Monitors enrollment trends and reviews emerging literature to develop appropriate program responses.
  • Provides consultation services for school districts seeking support for district-run ESL programs.
  • Develops and maintains liaison relationships with school district personnel to ensure appropriate ELL services.
  • Works collaboratively with the administrative team to support program efforts and performs other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
