About The Position

Reed City High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our athletic program as a JV Girls Basketball Assistant for the upcoming season. This position requires a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes while assisting the head coach in various aspects of the program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for basketball, strong communication skills, and a desire to mentor young athletes.

Requirements

• Previous coaching or playing experience in basketball, preferably at the high school level.
• Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff, players, and parents.
• Commitment to promoting a positive and respectful team environment.
• Availability for practices, games, and team events during the basketball season.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the season).
• Background check clearance as required by school district policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practices, ensuring a focus on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Support the coaching staff in preparing game strategies and analyzing game performance.
• Help organize and manage team logistics, including transportation, equipment, and scheduling.
• Foster a positive and inclusive team culture, encouraging student-athletes to develop their skills and confidence.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school staff regarding team expectations, schedules, and events.
• Monitor the academic progress and well-being of student-athletes, promoting a balance between athletics and academics.
• Attend all practices, games, and team meetings as required, providing support and guidance to players.
• Assist in the recruitment and evaluation of potential players for the program.
• Uphold and enforce all school and athletic department policies and regulations.
