High School JV Girls Basketball Coach
About The Position
This position assumes responsibility for the entire junior varsity girls basketball program, including coaching the junior varsity squad and providing guidance to the overall junior varsity program. The coach will implement district athletic department policies, assist in the selection and evaluation of junior varsity and assistant coaching staff, and work closely with the MSD Athletic Director, Athletic Coordinator, and Principal. Key responsibilities include communicating the high school game schedule and travel arrangements for out-of-town trips, verifying student physical examination and Family ID requirements, and supervising students during travel to away competitions. The coach will also be responsible for the care of athletes, including those who are injured, and for the maintenance and storage of all equipment and uniforms. Additionally, the role involves preparing award lists and season records, attending state meetings, and operating within MSD policies. The coach is expected to stay informed on current trends in basketball, attend clinics, and maintain active membership in related professional organizations. Fostering positive staff relationships with other coaches and performing other duties as assigned by the MSD Athletic Director/Athletic Coordinator and Principal are also part of the role. Communication with players regarding personal development, both during and off-season, and holding meetings with parents about sportsmanship are crucial. Promoting the high school program by encouraging participation from upcoming players is also a responsibility. The coach must apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and trips off school property in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Requirements
