About The Position

Processes intake of delinquent juveniles to include confirming jurisdiction, evaluating validity of complaint, performing interviews, determining action required, and preparing detailed legal documents, reports, and files. Receives and examines complaints and charges of delinquency, dependency, or that a child is in need of services to consider the commencement of proceedings; reviews court records and orders; determines obligations of offenders; conducts intake interviews; collects and records case intake data; obtains school records and family social history; performs drug screening; and transports juveniles as required. Manages and authorizes placement of juveniles into detention or protective custody (on a 24-hour basis); ensures juvenile’s right to a timely hearing; confers with law enforcement agencies and makes judicial probable cause determinations regarding delinquent cases; and authorizes juvenile’s medical treatment for life threatening situations. Makes referrals regarding counseling, community service, tutoring, mentoring, and work readiness training. Documents case files and makes recommendations to the Lead Intake Officer for the Judge and District Attorney.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Social Work, or a related field required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
