Requirements

  • A tuberculosis test and MMR vaccinations are required in accordance with COLA DPSS/DHS requirements.
  • At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures at a government location, including access control activities for staff, visitors, and authorized vendors.
  • Monitor entrances and exits, verify identification and credentials, and help to deter unauthorized access while following post orders and established protocols.
  • Respond to incidents, policy concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and report observations to site leadership and/or emergency contacts as appropriate.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, and perimeter areas to identify unusual activity and support a controlled environment.
  • Document visitor activity, access-related events, and daily observations, and communicate clearly with staff, residents, and the public regarding location rules and entry requirements.
