About The Position

This position requires a professional business demeanor and presentation, with a strong emphasis on confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of the information handled. The role demands the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people, utilizing an awareness of cultural values and biases to interact successfully with individuals from various cultural backgrounds. Due to the nature of working with youth in custody, there is a high probability of experiencing elevated stress levels when dealing with violent or uncooperative individuals. This role is considered essential for the care of children in the custody of JDC, requiring staff to report for duty every scheduled day, including holidays, inclement weather, and emergencies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Submit to a pre-employment screening (including physical exam, psychological exam, TB screen, drug screen).
  • Pass a criminal record check.
  • Pass an in-depth reference check.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of people.
  • Awareness of cultural values and biases to work effectively with people of diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to handle situations involving elevated stress levels while dealing with violent or uncooperative youth.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for children in the custody of JDC.
