About The Position

The Department of Youth Services (DYS) is seeking a Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) Analyst to serve as a DYS representative coordinating the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative. This role involves liaising with participating counties, monitoring their progress, collecting and reporting data, conducting policy reviews, providing technical assistance, and supporting new county on-boarding efforts. The analyst will also coordinate the state JDAI Advisory Committee, align JDAI principles with juvenile court initiatives, assist with grant preparation and fiscal compliance, and present JDAI updates to various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Completion of undergraduate core program in social or behavioral science, pre-medicine or public or business administration or accounting; 18 mos. exp. in delivery of human services or medical assistance in governmental, community or private human support services agency or medical provider or review of such services for cost containment/budget planning; 6 mos. exp. in supervisory principles/techniques.
  • Completion of graduate core program in social or behavioral science, medicine-related field or public or business administration or accounting; 12 mos. exp. in delivery of human services or medical assistance in governmental, community or private human support services agency or medical provider or review of such services for cost containment/budget planning; 6 mos. exp. in supervisory principles/techniques.
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
  • Human Services job skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as DYS liaison with participating counties & monitors progress related to JDAI.
  • Assists in collecting county-level data from participating counties and reports summary data to the JDAI Administrator.
  • Provides detention policy & practice reviews.
  • Provides technical assistance to participating counties.
  • Supports readiness/on-boarding efforts in counties in preparation for future JDAI participation.
  • Coordinates activities of state JDAI Advisory Committee as directed.
  • Works with agency staff to coordinate JDAI core principles and implementation with juvenile court initiatives such as RECLAIM Ohio, Targeted RECLAIM and Competitive RECLAIM.
  • Assists the JDAI Administrator providing state and county data and other required information in preparation for Annie E. Casey Foundation grants and ensures fiscal compliance with all grant requirements.
  • Conducts presentations of JDAI updates & progress to court staff, agency staff and agency stakeholders.
